Sarah Ivory - ideas to increase preparation???

I have a sense preparation is incredibly low for the course.... Ideas to increase it are welcome?  I don't want to create anxiety (i.e call people out to summarise an article and 'tell them off' if they haven't read it) but I also want them to DO THE READING!  I (hope) you'll agree that we have not set excessive preparation.... Ideas?

From Sarah Ivory: Reflections that you may find useful

Hi All, Hope your first week of sessions went well last week.  Please be in touch with any issues or questions. A few reflections on this week: Thanks to Marta, I've added some additional slides to the Team Working lecture, focused more on MBTI - I'm only going through these quickly in the lecture, but it may mean that you want to spend a little more time discussing MBTI and different personalities in the Workshops.  It's up to you.  I will upload the slides immediately after the session. Well, hi to everyone. It is now Week 1 and we will start meeting students next week. As this is my second time, I sort of know what to expect. It will be interesting. I have had "corridor" conversations with Sarah. The one that stuck in my mind most is her playing a game analogy for learning. If you don't take part, you don't improve. I intend to bring this up with my groups on Monday and Tuesday. I was wondering how much to say about myself at the introductory seminar. Still pondering that question. I know for the more "quantitative/mathematical" individuals on the course that GCB seems wide of what they expect to learn. This could be quite a challenge (no pun intended).
Welcome to this Global Challenges for Business Instructor Blog. Please feel free to use the space to discuss any ideas you have regarding how we teach the Skills Workshops and Topic Seminars. It is also a place to share experiences of teaching and a point of general discussion between the instructors of the course. It is set to private and only those I have invited should have access. Kind Regards Sara D
